Separate Incidents Cause Morning Gridlock On Several Area Roadways

It was a slow go for commuters in parts of the area during the Thursday morning commute as a result of four separate incidents.

A crash took out the left lane on southbound I-684 at Route 35 (Exit 6) in Katonah with stopped traffic at the scene and stop-and-go delays of one hour to Hardscrabble Road (Exit 8) until the lane reopened at around 8:30 a.m.

On the southbound Taconic Parkway, a crash took out the right lane at Peekskill Hollow Road, with stop-and-go delays to Pudding Street until the lane reopened around 9 a.m.

A stretch of Route 123 (Smith Ridge Road) in South Salem is closed after a crash involving an overturned truck into a utility pole just south of Route 35 near the Ridgefield border.

In Chappaqua, Roaring Brook Road is down to one lane eastbound between Southview Place and Horace Greeley High School due to a downed utility pole. Con Edison has been notified, New Castle Police said in an advisory issued just before 7:30 a.m. Motorists should expect delays.
